Steve Rocliffe

Blue Ventures
Research & Learning Manager
Steve provides broad support to Blue Ventures’ research programme, working with colleagues to build rigorous, high-quality evidence and learning around our work, and packaging this learning into training and outreach resources.

Working within the UK-based conservation team, Steve develops resources for conservation partners globally, supports staff to conduct and publish marine conservation and fisheries management research and provides thought leadership in support of BV’s mission to rebuild tropical fisheries.

An interdisciplinary marine conservation scientist and science communicator with several years’ experience, Steve holds a PhD from the University of York in community-centered approaches to marine conservation and fisheries management. Prior to starting at BV in April 2015, he consulted for several environmental charities and global healthcare companies, writing accessible reports and articles and developing innovative infographics and data visualisations to maximise public engagement with sustainable practice.

Steve’s work has taken him all over the world, and fuelled his passion for travel and exploration. He loves – and is relatively competent at – diving, photography and travel writing, and enjoys – but is utterly useless at – surfing and paddleboarding.
